Wine corkscrew knowledge

1. Different packaging methods use different bottle openers

1. Cork stopper

Most of the corks used in finished wines are natural corks, composite corks, or synthetic corks. As for bottle seals, metal or plastic materials are more common.

Wine corkscrew knowledge

For corks, our cork opening procedure is as follows:

Clean the wine bottle first, then use the knife on the bottle opener to gently draw a circle under the leak-proof ring (the circle-shaped part protruding from the bottle mouth) to cut off the bottle seal.

Wipe the mouth of the bottle clean with a dry cloth or paper towel, then insert the auger tip of the corkscrew vertically into the center of the cork (if it is inserted crooked, the cork can easily be pulled off), and then slowly clockwise. Slowly swivel the corkscrew into the cork by hand.

Hold the end of the bottle against the mouth of the bottle, then pull up the other end of the corkscrew and pull the cork up firmly and gently.

Stop when you feel that the cork is about to be pulled out, hold the cork with your hand, and then gently shake or turn the cork to gently pull out the cork.

Some people think that by smelling the cork, you can tell whether a wine has deteriorated, but in fact, you cannot judge the quality of a wine by smelling the cork. In fact, by observing the state of the cork, including the degree of dryness and damage, it can be judged whether the wine is leaking or oxidized.

2. Screw caps and fresh-keeping caps

Now the use of screw caps has developed into a new trend. When opening the screw cap, hold the bottle with one hand and twist the cap with the other hand until the cap is opened. The other is the wine preservation cap, which has no special way to open the bottle, just tear it open.

3. Sparkling wine packaging

Champagne and sparkling wine use different types of corks, no need for another corkscrew, just pay attention to safety when opening the wine, because the bottle contains a certain air pressure, and the cork is easy to "fly" out. Also, don't open the wine right away after you bring it home, and freeze it before drinking it to prevent the bubbles from overflowing.
